"He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"
— Micah 6:8
Lord, show me what You would have me see, what You would have me experience, and where my soul is needed today.
In a world filled with noise, quiet my attention so I may notice what truly matters. Draw my awareness toward the things You place before me—the laughter of a child, the tenderness of an adult caring for an aging parent, the stranger offering kindness when no one is watching. Gather my attention not toward what is loud, but toward what is sacred.
Let me see not only with my eyes, but with my soul. As Eckhart Tolle wrote, "Love is recognizing yourself in another." Help me recognize Your presence in every person I encounter. Let me see beyond appearances, beyond circumstances, beyond labels. Teach me to recognize that every person I meet is carrying burdens, hopes, fears, and dreams not unlike my own.
God, teach me to see the small things as immeasurably large. Every moment, every breath, every act of compassion carries a significance beyond my understanding. Your creation stretches beyond time and space, beyond what my mind can grasp. The vastness of Your grace and the mystery of existence are greater than any answer I could ever hold.
You brought me into this life with finite thoughts, fleeting emotions, and questions that may never be fully resolved. Yet I stand before You a believer—not because I understand everything, but because I understand so little. The wonder itself points me toward You.
For as You said through the prophet Isaiah:
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
— Isaiah 55:8-9
How comforting it is to know that I do not have to solve every mystery. I do not need to understand every hardship, explain every loss, or predict every outcome. My role is not to comprehend the infinite, but to trust the One who does.
My journey with You never truly ends. There remains within me an awareness of something greater, whether others choose to believe it or not. A quiet knowing that behind all creation, all beauty, all longing, and all love, there is You.
And so I return to the simple calling found in Micah—to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with my God.
Let me remind those around me of Your love—not through grand speeches or self-important words, but through the quiet testimony of a life lived in service. May my actions reflect compassion. May my presence offer peace. May my willingness to serve speak louder than anything I could ever say.
Show me the hurting so I may offer comfort. Show me the lonely so I may offer companionship. Show me the fearful so I may offer encouragement. Show me where my soul is needed, and then give me the courage to go.
Show me, Lord.
And when You do, give me the humility to recognize that it was You who showed me all along. Amen.
