Revelation 21:4 – “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
When we feel alone, lost, or as if we’re falling behind, we may begin to question our place in the world. Isolation and discomfort in our surroundings can sometimes be signs that our lives are not fully aligned with God’s will. Yet, it is in these very moments that our faith must take shape.
God sees us in our tears, our doubts, and our fears. He knows our struggles intimately. Though we cannot see Him or speak to Him as we would another person, we stay aligned with His will through faith and by embracing His grace.
It’s amazing how much the mind wants to predict what will happen or what our circumstances mean. I’ve come to understand that this life is choice—and though it’s inconceivable to us that God already knows the story from beginning to end, at least as it pertains to this earthly existence, that is faith. When I see so much suffering in this world, the loss of loved ones, and the pain of those who grieve, I often wonder what the point of it all is. Yet unless we walk these roads—especially the ones paved with tragedy—we never come to understand redemption.
Jordan B. Peterson once said “We all owe a death — to nature, to God, to the structure of existence itself. The only question is whether we’ll face that debt voluntarily or be crushed by it unwillingly.” These words remind us that mortality is not a curse but a sacred rhythm. What we call death is simply the great returning — our bodies to the earth, our spirit to God, and our ego to humility. In this surrender, we find peace, for what was borrowed is never truly lost; it merely goes home to its Source.
Even Jesus Himself endured suffering and death on the cross—though He could have stopped it. He chose to endure it to show us that even in the darkest moments, redemption is written all over it.
So take heart, my brothers and sisters. Victory is promised. Though we may feel like we’re losing the race, God will never forsake you. He will make you whole again. In fact, He will provide you with an eternal life that is beyond all human measure.
Heavenly Father,
When the weight of this world feels too heavy, remind us that our suffering is not in vain. Help us to see that even in pain, there is purpose, and in loss, there is love everlasting. May Your promise of eternal life give us strength to carry on, trusting that You are making all things new.
Amen.
