Deep Calls to Deep

My soul, show me what you see.

When I witness a neighbor patiently pushing an elderly parent in a wheelchair, let me see beyond the moment and recognize the love that is present. When a friend I have not spoken to in years suddenly comes to mind, help me understand whether there is a reason for the remembering. When a feeling of déjà vu washes over me, remind me that there are depths to life that my mind cannot fully explain.

My soul, teach me what you feel.

When I meet someone and feel an immediate connection, show me what is familiar. When a stranger's suffering touches my heart, reveal the compassion that joins us together. When beauty unexpectedly brings tears to my eyes—a sunset, a song, a child's laughter—help me understand what is stirring within me.

My soul, guide me toward what is true.

When my mind is restless, let me hear your quiet wisdom. When fear clouds my judgment, let me feel your peace. When I am uncertain of the path ahead, remind me that goodness, kindness, humility, and love are never the wrong direction.

God, if my soul is the place where You whisper, help me become still enough to listen.

Show me what I overlook.
Help me feel what I rush past.
Teach me to recognize Your fingerprints in ordinary moments.
Let me see with eyes that are compassionate and feel with a heart that is awake.

"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10

"Deep calls to deep..." — Psalm 42:7

My soul, remind me that beneath all the noise of this world, there is a deeper knowing. And in that knowing, may I find not only myself, but the presence of God.
