You Have Always Been

The idea of having no beginning and no end pushes the human mind beyond what it can comfortably understand. You were never truly born, and you shall never truly perish. To our human intellect, this seems impossible. We understand beginnings and endings, birth and death, yesterday and tomorrow. We understand life through time.

But perhaps time is part of the illusion.

When I look into the vastness of the universe, I begin to realize how little I actually know. Maybe beyond this human experience there is no time, no distance, no beginning or end—only God.

I have come to understand that my human existence is only a minuscule fragment of something so grand that my mind could never fully comprehend it. No person, philosophy, science, or religion has ever been able to hand me the complete nature of existence and say with absolute certainty, “This is why we are here. This is where we came from. This is what happens next.”

Perhaps we are incapable of knowing because we are trying to understand the infinite with a finite mind.

And once I accept that, something inside me becomes quieter.

Maybe my greatest responsibility in this life is not to figure everything out. Maybe it is simply to trust, to have faith, and to believe that there is something greater carrying all of this.

That is not easy. So much of human existence is built around control. We plan, worry, manipulate, predict, and protect ourselves because the ego desperately wants to believe it is steering the ship.

But in the grand scheme of existence, perhaps we are more like a small leaf floating upon an enormous river—aware enough to see the water, conscious enough to wonder where it is taking us, and sometimes convinced that we are directing the current.

Yet the river continues.

Maybe peace begins when we stop demanding to know where it goes.

Maybe faith is realizing that the river was here before us, will remain after us, and that the same God who created the current is carrying us home.

You did not begin here.

You will not end here.

You have always been.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

— Ecclesiastes 3
