Punch the Clock

When God calls me home, what will the time and date read?

More importantly, what will my life have meant?

Did I help more than I harmed?
Did I serve more than I took?
Did I love the way God intended me to love?

Did I spend more time worrying than trusting? Did I allow my mind to take control when surrender would have been the better path? How many battles did I fight that were never mine to fight?

Will I leave this life carrying regrets—people I never forgave, words I never said, apologies I never made? Will I have learned to forgive not only others, but myself?

How will my family remember me? Will I have left them something greater than possessions—a legacy of faith, love, character, and presence?

Will my friends attend my funeral? Will anyone grieve when I’m gone? Will someone tell a story about a moment when I showed up for them when they needed me?

Who knows?

And maybe that’s the point.

We spend so much of our lives wondering how the story will end when God has given us today to decide how the story is lived.

We have now.

We have this moment to make all of those questions matter.

To forgive while there is still someone to forgive.
To apologize while there is still someone to hear it.
To serve while our hands are still able.
To love while our hearts are still beating.
To surrender what was never ours to control.

Someday, each of us will punch the clock for the final time.

Until then, we are still on the clock.

Be present. Love deeply. Forgive quickly. Serve willingly. Trust God.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
— Psalm 90:12
